as previously requested by a fellow jwn, i will post a topic about "jw stuff", so "newbies, lurkers and recently bittered souls" are able to discern how the watchtower society's statement about "elders being appointed by holy spirit" is not true.. according to the holy bible, these are the requirements for being appointed an elder by men, men who are suppose to observe if their hand picked elder is obeying god's word.. 1 timothy 3 "living bible translation".
"3 this is a trustworthy saying: "if someone aspires to be an elder,[a] he desires an honorable position.
" 2 so an elder must be a man whose life is above reproach.
Who gets appointed, and when, has to do with risk-management.
Risk Factors
Gain: Does the man in question have money or power, can he manipulated easily, can he be used as a scapegoat, will he and his wife "play along" and do they need him NOW? Yes, then he'll probably magically qualify even if he has no "spiritual" qualifications.
Loss: Is he poor, likely to stir up the muck, will he tattle, does he stand his ground and is he not easily manipulated? Yes, then he'll probably be overlooked or kept a MS for a long, long time. (This man may become an elderberry at some point but will probably have to move to a new conned-green-nation or wait for someone to die, and a need/space open up, for it to happen.)
as i've understood it the gb has taken a vow of poverty.
on jwn they are constantly accused of guilt tripping their subjects to keep distributing there literature to make converts in order to keep growing the number of donations which is a valid point.
i ask this question in all honesty and naivety to see where the truth of the matter lies.
The GB don't have/make any money yet do not live like the rest of the poor-as-f**k beth-hell-ites, they don’t drive beater cars, they don't wear cheap suits and whenever they travel they get first class accommodations; who do you think is paying for all of this?
i remember afew years ago in the around 1990-95 there were only afew w.w. 1 vets left marching on anzac day....we pioneers spoke about how due to this, "the end" has to come at least before 2001. afew years ago we had the one surviving anzac who falsely enlisted at 16 years of age still alive.....now excuse the term...."this generation" has passed away.. my mum still beileves the 1914 gen lives on!!

is there any restriction on jehovah's witnesses becoming friends with their "bible studies"?
while they are studying with them could they do things like go to the movies, go out for a cup of coffee, or just hang out with out the pretense of it being a study?
i tried to search on my version of the watchtower library cd-rom but could not find any direct answers.
You can do anything you want as long as no one at the king-dumb-hell finds out about it.
Otherwise no one is good ass-ociation until they are fully indoctrinated and not considered "safe" until baptized.
i had tears in my eyes at work today.
there was an arbor day celebration and some teenagers had some speeches and they planted a tree...most people would not be as touched by the events today as i was but one of the women recieving an award said that she was proud of these children because they were doingsomething good for the communtiy...and i was proud of them too, but i was sad for jw's who would think these children are "bad" just because they are not witnesses...or the jw who would not let their children associate with these teenagers or even be part of a "wordly" club..that's what made me sad, all those years i missed looking at the little beautiful things in life in a positive light and not the negative debbie downer way jw's look at things..
Yeah it gets to me when I think of all the missed opportunities I had to REALLY help.
